Hey, thanks for the link, Landlord! Looks like that site is still a work in progress, it'll be interesting to watch it blossom.

    Winstar Chips

I do not know of any presently available but there should be plenty available for purchase at the casino between 12:00 & 2:00 p.m. for $550.:)

    Winstar "Hot Seat" changes?

I was told (by other players) that Winstar has changed the "Hot Chip" give-a-way from midnight to 3:00 a.m. days from Friday and Monday to Thursday and Sunday (like advertised in their flyers).

I have not been able to confirm this from Winstar as of yet, but just wanted those players coming in this week trying to try and win a chip to be aware that they may not be "Hot Seats" giving away this Friday (Midnight - 3:00 a.m.).

However I have learned that Winstar still has plenty entry chips avalible for purchase for this weeks tournament at their box office.

    Winstar confirm

Just after I made the last post I was able to get hold of someone at Winstar that did confirm the changes for the midnight to 3:00 a.m. give-a-ways.

So those players coming in Thursday evening will not have the chance to win a chip before hand unless they offer and extra give-a-way time slot like they did for May.

Are there many people playing between midnight and 3am on an Early Thursday / late Wednesday night?

Im confused,..if it's thursday midnight to 3:00am, wont players coming in on thursday still have a shot for a hotseat chip or not?

hope someone could clarify, as Im coming in thursday, and no sense playing then,..if that's the case.

Packin, if you get there on Wed. night then at midnight - 3:00 a.m. on Thursday you will get a chance to get a chip. However if you get up to Winstar on Thursday around 4:00 p.m. all you will have a chance at is the 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. time slot, (the midnight - 3:00 a.m. would have been over 14 hours earlier).

Sounds to me like Winstar management might be a little frustrated that folks are coming in from all over the country for this tournament - and winning a lot of the cash. From their point of view, in May's event:
    1st was from Michigan ($50K) - gone
    2nd was from Seattle ($15K) - gone
    3rd was from Arkansas ($10K) - gone

That's 75% of the prize fund going to out-of-area players. All casinos that run tournaments hope to get a shot at winning back some of the prize money on their tables. If the money leaves town, they have little chance of that happening. The caveat in the payoff for this particular tournament was that half of the winner's share DID stay in the immediate area.

By making it a barring offense to actively broker the entry chips, and also not having "hot seat" draws late on Thursday night, they have significantly increased the chances that out-of-area players will have to pay the full rate to enter.
And quite frankly I don't blame them.

Landlord I just posted information I was ask to from Winstar management about getting banned.

And I don't have any chips for sell, actually I was hoping to buy some at a discount, if not I'll pay the full $550 price if I need any extra chips, just like I've done in the past.

Winstar apparently won't allow you to cancel if you do register over the phone with a credit card. Talk about a dumb policy! That's no way to encourage early signups at full price.

I bought mine at full price a couple of weeks ago. I won't be doing that for July, just in case something comes up and I need to cancel.

    Ouch!

I wasn't aware you couldn't cancel your entry, OUCH!

You should be able to sell the chip and recoup most of the entry fee if you need to, however if a player doesn't show up will the casino give the entry chip to someone other then the purchaser so they may sell it chip for them?

    Registration and starting times

Can someone please verify the registration time and starting times? I have conflicting information.

    Registration: 10-12 or 12-2
Starting time for round 1: 12 noon or 2pm

    Thanks!

In May registration was from 12-2, with starting at 2, I have not seen a posting for June, but assume it is the same. But they do change things.

They start promptly & if you are not there at the starting time you will not be allowed in after the start.

    Correct

Springbac is correct, registration starts at 12:00 p.m. this Friday and play starts at 2:00 p.m. and Springbac is also correct that if you are not signed up before the start of play you will not be able to play in either of the first round sessions.

I just suggest you arrive for registration by 12:00 noon and you shouldn't have any problems playing Friday.

    Televised where?

My last trip to Winstar a couple of weeks ago I asked one of the supervisors in the poker room about the televising of the BJ/Poker tournament. He stated that at this time they don't know who/where it is going to be televised. I was on the t.v. table in the poker tournament in May for little over an hour. They used a poker table that was built more like a dice table and it was very hard to reach way to the bottom, and see your cards while trying to protect them from the players to your side. Hope they correct that before the big tournament in August.

Has anyone participated in the "Reality Show" part of the blackjack tournament? Do you really have to go somewhere for three days if you make the final table?

I don't get on here very often but I sure appreciate how well this site is run, good luck to everyone!
