Thanks, Rick, is beginning to look like that'll be the only way we see it!

On another note, and I didn't want to TOOT this HORN too early and take away from BJ Beauty's well-deserved kudos for a job very well done.....

This was Deb's first major tournament, and I think she did damn well for being basically scared sh**less right up to the starting gun. She got to round 4, folks, just one table short of cashing, and only lost when another player pulled a miracle 5 on his hard 16. She lasted a whale of a lot longer than many players with much more live experience. There had been insinuations about her, on another forum and in comments heard, that she didn't really win that UBT TV seat - that perhaps I had done that for her (quite untrue, by the way). I think she proved the naysayers wrong, and am damn proud of her.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!! :D

Could we be witnessing the start of the DETROIT MAFIA?

    Actually

You are pretty close toolman. There was a *highly* Skilled "Real Money" BJ team operating out of Datroit, or Detroit, in the Mid 90's to early 2k's. They were known as the "Detroit Faction".

There were also rumors that when Windsor casino instituted their craps game they were so inexperienced that the "Faction" took them for over 400K!
I have reason to believe there is more truth to this than rumor;)

:laugh::laugh: I don't know about that, but I do have a good buddy who is really quite excellent at TBJ, he was marauding the old PlayUBT site pretty much at will. After my Winstar appearance and now Deb's 2 good showings, he's just itchin' to get into this strange game we play.
I, too, have heard these rumors - and from so many sources that there has to be a lot of truth in there.

I've been a member here for a while and am considering driving down to Winstar for the July tournament from Kansas City. Does anyone know if the discount is still available for the La Quinta Inn in Gainesville? It was posted earlier in this thread that rooms were available for $89 for all of the tourney dates.

I've been playing at Harrah's weekly tournaments here for a year and a half and am ready to try larger scale tournaments. Also bought Ken's book and have read it several times.

It sounds like a lot of fun.

    musings

I played the tournament for the first time last week. I enjoyed the tourny, met some nice people from this sight, and look forward to the Aug. finals. No I did not make the finals and will be unable to make the July tourny for health reasons but I look forward to someone from this sight taking down the whole enchilada. Congrats to those who have already qualified.

    Plus and minus observations.

    Plus
    EV-ease of registration-buy in-friendly management

    minus
accessibility-not so friendly dealers-ante for table play-CSM's predominate-flies throughout casino- and my personal beef, terrible video poker games

All in all, I must rate it as positive because it's the only big game around and I hope it continues.
    Good luck all

Yes pasman, the rates are $89 per night if you use the code TBJPA, other wise the nightly rate will be $99 per night.

You're certainly right about that. Look around, you might find something almost playable. Two bars there have bartop VP with 9/6 double bonus - which checks in at a pathetic 97.8%. But both bars are on progressives, and when I was there in May the royal at one bar was a bit over $1,800 (for quarters) which bumps the return up to 99.5% +/-. Variance is a killer on those, though. The high-limit room has 9/6 JoB if you can handle $5 per coin.

    Next Winstar Blackjack "Split" show

I found two stations listing the Winstar poker.
(Sat. June 21th) I see it listed on KFWD at 11:30 p.m. and (Sunday June 22th) on WFAA at 12:40 a.m.

The Winstar blackjack or "Split" is listed on the same two stations, however not until Sunday June 22th on KFWD at 11:30 p.m. and on WFAA at 1:00 a.m.

Looks like someone's been fooling around with the content on that site in the past day or so.
Nothing spectacular yet, still appears to be a work in progress. But at least there's some progress!

I found the second show to be fairly entertaining. The reality portions were more interesting than the blackjack parts, but it wasn't bad overall. But, jeez, can we get rid of this Scottsdale Joe guy already?

    I agree Ken...

But Ken, Scottsdale Joe played with the MIT team...LOL. I almost fell off the sofa when I heard that...LOL.

I wrote pretty much the same thing on the other thread about the Winstar "Split" show.

I am really hoping the show goes over well with the general public. I'd love for Winstar to keep hosting this event on a regular basis.

On another note, Winstar is currently adding on to their casino and I was told at completion it will become the 3rd largest casino in the country, only behind Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos.

Maybe he learned about standing on all 16s from the MIT team. How funny

    The Split

    Hi everyone,
Does anyone know the commentators of the split? It isn't "Scottsdale" Joe. They announced Tripp Fontaine and Andrew Ryerson. What did you think of this final table? I won second, and would like any feedback :) Good Luck to all in July and August.

Looking for some roomies for July

I rented a cabin that’s 14 miles from the casino for June and shared it with four other players. I have it reserved for the July 11th tourney and have plenty of room available to share with anyone who's interested. It sleeps five comfortably and would be $100 per person for Wednesday through Monday. Let me know if your interested. It comes with a full kitchen and satellite TV.

    Question about entry chips:

For those who are in the know:

I plan to show up for the July Winstar tourney on Thursday around 5 pm. Do I need to worry about all of the entry chips being sold out before this time? I know that it hasn't been a worry for any of the previous tournaments, but since this is the last qualifier, maybe they might sell out??

For your information's, I called the box office today and talked to the lady works there. She told me there are a lot of chips left to buy in. She told me I can buy in at the day before the tournament or at 9:00AM on the day of the tournament.

I would be astounded if they sold it out. There are 360 spots available. At the May event, there were 233 entries.
I heard that June saw 260 +/- but don't know for sure.

They give away 180 free entries to BJ players in the casino, and offer 180 more for sale. Highly unlikely that you'll have any problem, but I think you can buy an entry in advance if you wish.
