    Hilton - unofficial war?

    Joep
Can you elaborate, even briefly, on what you meant earlier in this thread about the Hilton being in an unofficial war with tournament players?
Just got an invite from them to a March "Aces & Faces" tournament. Are you suggesting serious players should not participate, or that our non-tournament action will not be wanted there, or what?

    Go play EagleA10

Anytime you get an invite for a free tournament and can make it take advatage of it. No matter what a casino is like if they are giving you a chance to win $20,000 or more go for it.

I don't think Joep is upset with the LV Hilton, but with one of the employees. Remember Les Tacker is still there and he is one of the tournament players best freinds. Soon Hector will be taking over the tournament duties and he to is a good guy.

I think Joep was upset because of some of the new rules and rating systems the LV Hilton has started. At least they are willing to host the WSOB for GSN this year and if Joep wins a seat I am sure he will be there.

I'll give them an A for that effort (hosting the WSOB) and an A+ if I can win a qualifying seat for it this year...LOL

    It's War Baby

I always wonder how Rick gets around to answering a question that was asked of me.Now to answer your question Eagle so as you can understand what point I was trying to make. When I said that the Hilton is in a unofficial war with tournament players. I was trying to make other players aware of the current mind set of the Hilton's new casino manager and a few of his shift managers and back up shift managers.

They have zero tolerance if they think you are a player who plays in blackjack tournaments around town or play with an advantage .So my warning was play your round don't be seen hanging around the tournament area talking to other players about your hands and possible better strategy plays. This will get you marked and your tournament lifespan at the Hilton will be over. My other suggestion is that if you even think that you have the ability to play on the live blackjack tables with an advantage do it at some other casino that you do not play tournaments in.

Learn from the mistakes that other good players and myself have made NEVER and I repeat NEVER play live blackjack at a casino that you play tournaments in ESPECIALLY the Hilton.

Get you required rated play in with another game even if you have to play at a small disadvantage equity that you will be getting from the invite tournament with no entry fee will more than make up for your small disadvantage.

Games to play with little house edge
Dice pass/don't pass with full odds
or Video Poker with decent pay schedules

    Hope this answers your question

They are in an "UNOFFICIAL WAR WITH TOURNAMENT PLAYERS "

Dam, I wish I had known that before I played in my first tournament and at their tables there last year.

    Thanks for advice re: Hilton

Joep, your explanation is much appreciated. Your words of caution seem sound, especially for a player with your qualifications and unquestionable familiarity with the LVH scene - past and present.

However, as one who hasn't gotten alot of tournament invites from LV hotels (can't just take time off and fly cross-country as often as I'd like), I probably need to follow TXtourplayer's recommendation and enter one with good equity when my schedule allows me to go.

As far as giving the LVH some type of action, what's wrong with a little live b.s. for a few hours? I can't stand craps and VP is boring (I can stare at a TV screen by myself at home). Can you recommend somewhere else in LV where one should go for the heavy lifting?

    Heavy Lifting

By heavy lifting I assume you mean where are the good games where you can get some big piles of chips in the circle.Like I have said before anyplace that you don't play blackjack tournaments in is the first hurdle to cross.

As we speak the best DD game in town is at the Las Vegas Club in downtown Las Vegas they deal about 75 %, dd on any first 2 cards, double after split, and re split aces up to 3 times.Keep in mind a similar game was being offered at the Plaza a sister property to the LVC the rules to that game were changed recently so how long the LVC game will last for is unknown strike while the iron is hot.

If 6 deck games are in you arsenal take a look at Mandalay Bay & MGM games
